Villa Nova’s creative collaboration with the talented potter Kyra Cane is not one to be missed! Taking influence from Kyra’s ceramics Villa Nova have worked along side her to create a dynamic range of textured fabrics to capture the wildness of landscapes and Kyra’s signature mark making. Her drawings and ceramics have been translated into a stunning range of textiles, cushions, rugs and wallcoverings. The Collection was inspired by bold abstract landscapes from Kyra’s studio in Welbeck which are very much present in her designs. In her own words Kyra shares “My work revolves around a central table surrounded by potters wheels, kilns, stacks of clay and a large rack where pots are at various stages of completion. My pots all being life as lumps of soft porcelain which are thrown into fine voluminous forms on a potter’s wheel, just a very small part of the whole process of turning clay into ceramic. This artistic collaboration has brought together two major parts of the creative process. The originality of this project lies in the fact that both my porcelain ceramics and my drawings have inspired a new body of work in the form of textiles and wallcoverings, bringing together aspects of my artistic process which have always co-existed in parallel. I am hugely proud of the collection and delighted that the range maintains the essence of the artistic style.”
